PASA Stallions FC once again qualified for Football NSW’s Summer Football Champion of Champions tournament held at their headquarters in Valentine Park. The squad consisted of the main nucleus of players who played in the last tournament plus some very handy additions made up of players from our 4 men’s teams.  We were drawn in Group 2, consisting of Northbridge FC, Mosman FC and UNSW FC.

Our first game was against Northbridge FC. They got off the blocks quickly, scoring after 10 seconds. However, we got our composure back and managed to score a goal in reply a few minutes later through Chris Dickson. Northbridge then capitalised on a few mistakes to go 3-1 up at half time. We fought hard to make it 3-2 with a clever goal from Vince Tavernese, however Northbridge scored straight of the kickoff to make it 4-2 and hold on for the win.

Our second game was a do or die matter. We have to win knowing that a loss would put us out of the competition. The boys responded as such and came out all guns blazing against a Mosman FC team who won their first game 4-1.  A good passing display straight out saw Seb Menendez score our first goal of the game which was well deserved. We then pounced once again with Dayne Fernandes making it 2-0. We knew that we had to keep scoring and that’s exactly what we did with Vince Tavernese scoring straight after half time. Our goalkeeper Rohan Thomas made some amazing saves to keep it at 3-0 and that wast the final score.

Our third game saw us needing to win by 3 goals and hope that Mosman beat Northbridge. Our our part, we started of a bit nervous, and UNSW FC capitalised on that, scoring to make it 1-0. They then proceeded to park the bus, and threw in a bit of acting to try and get a result. However the PASA boys never give up and got a much deserved equaliser with Seb Menendez making a great run and smashing the ball home.  Unfortunately we didn’t get the result we needed to make the semi’s, and finished second in our group.

Credit must be given to each and everyone of the players who played for the team in the competition. Tournaments like these don’t come around that often and its always a pleasure representing our association and promoting our club to the greater community.12378029_10153036582251191_1899220746335927045_o
